The Project

EMCE had previously carried out the refurbishment M&E works to the ground & first floor areas of the Day Centre in 2012 with a shell being left on the second floor ready for future development. This time around EMCE successfully acquired the project to carry out the refurbishment of the M&E services to half of the first floor and the entire second floor. The areas were being refurbished to provide flexible working spaces, new WCs and kitchens for North Yorkshire County Council.

Playing Our Part

The Mechanical installation included extensions and modifications to the domestic hot water system, cold water services, air conditioning, ventilation and heating systems. The Electrical installation included the extension of the existing fire alarm system and installation of new distribution, smart LED lighting and small power services. Future provision for door access equipment was installed to a number of doorways within the refurbishment area and within the Day Centre which was still active. To ensure minimal disruption to the operation of the day centre; EMCE liaised closely with the site operators to arrange suitable times/dates for the works to be done.
